Religion or Not ?

Awesome debate about religion:  Tony Blair (pro) vs. Christopher Hitchens (con) .
This is about an hour long for the whole thing. I am about 20 minutes into it now and am super engrossed and interested by both sides.

Visual of GirlTalk Mashups

This website visualizes the mashups, showing what songs come into mix at what points. It's pretty amazing how well the songs fit together.  Also amazing how many catchy songs I've never heard of.

Scale

Sometimes when I feel depressed, I think about how big I am compared to an ant or a sulfur atom. Or I'm really depressed, compared to a neutrino.

If my ego grows too much, I think about how small and insignificant I am compared to the galaxy.

Feel sad? Scroll left. Feel ego? Scroll right.

Mighty Optical Illusion

It took me a while to realize what was going on in this picture.  At first it looks like the girl in the back is nude, but take a closer look... girl in the front has weird arms that cause the illusion of nakedness.

Democratic Climax

To some, voting is a right. To others, it's a duty. To the Socialist Party of Spain, it's an outright orgasmic pleasure:

"Spain 'orgasm' video criticised by politicians

Spanish politicians have criticised a video by the Young Socialists in Catalonia in which a woman simulates an orgasm while casting her vote."

Watch the commercial and smile. Or vote. Whatever gets you off.

These kids are good at sports (lots of different sports).

Cheeky Luggage Stickers

My goal at airports is to garner as little attention as possible. But in case I feel spiteful, I could always buy one of these.

Objective assessment of Gators and Crocs

Not being from Florida, I don't know how much I should fear gators. Still, before seeing this video I thought it was a lot. "Be afraid and run in zig zags" is what I used to say, but now after seeing this cat scare away the gator while kids wander around barely paying attention to the gator 8 feet away...  1 cat > 2 gators.

On the other hand Crocs are scary mother f'ers. Click the link to see this mama and baby elephant combat this scary croc:  LINK .

2 lessons I have learned:
  1. Croc > Gator
  2. American Aminals < African Animals

My Beard is Sacred

As a man who hates shaving and loves his beard, I would not be happy if someone did this to me. Especially if it were because of a lawn mower:

"Man's Beard Was Cut, Stuffed In His Mouth During Fight

He claims his beard was cut off and stuffed in his mouth and that he was ordered to eat it last May. And that's only the beginning of what one Lawrenceburg man says he and his brother endured, all because of a fight over a lawn mower."

Simply pure. I love the dancing kids.

Night vision Xbox Kinect

Ever wonder how xbox Kinect works?

I do all the time, and after seeing this video I am still not sure, but it definitely has something to do with a lot of creepy paranormal-activity-style dots.

It Takes A Pair

But a pair this big?

"Bush cricket testicle size clue to promiscuous mating

Scientists have found a bushcricket species with testicles that account for up to 14% of its body weight.

It is the animal with the biggest testicles in relation to its body weight, they write in Biology Letters."

In conan's absence JKL has become my favorite late night host, we'll see if conan can take back that title.

Googles Newest Droid App - Google Invasion

"An embarrassing error on Google Maps has been blamed for Nicaragua’s accidental invasion of Costa Rica. Last week, Nicaraguan troops crossed the border, took down a Costa Rican flag and defiantly raised their own flag on Costa Rican turf."

McGurk!

Here is a video on a really interesting illusion called the McGurk Effect. Basically, it shows how your senses work together to interpret the world. In the McGurk effect, your visual sense fucks up your auditory sense. And even though you know it is happening, you can't fix it.

Trick Play

He sold that really well with the arms out like he didn't know what was going on. Taking advantage of the nice 13 yr old kids not wanting to tackle a confused QB... Not nice.

You think the coaches planned this?  Seems like the whole team was in on it.

FB relationship data

The chart above uses facebook status to plot relationships. I'm not sure what the y axis, it's either the number of people in relationships or a ratio of status changes in to out of relationships. Either way it is interesting to see when people break up the most. Both spring break and xmas cause a lot of break ups, but likely for different reasons.

The Boat That Is Always Sinking

Some arty weirdo designed a boat that always looks like its sinking. It is fully functional, but painfully slow moving and unstable (unconfirmed). If this boat were actually sinking, no one would help them... like the boy that cried wolf.

UFO Drill

A UK school held a drill where they faked a UFO crash landing and instructed 8-10 year old student on how to handle the situation. The kids were not told that it was a drill.  What the shit!

These "crash drills" have apparently taken place since 2008, and are jointly organized by schools and law enforcement agencies in UK. When the aliens attack UK residents particularly the 8-12 yr olds will know what to do thus survive the apocalypse. While we Americans will just panic thereby scaring the alien, which will have no choice but to kill us all. Damn.

McDonald's to make wedding cakes

Beginning January 1, 2011, McDonald locations in Hong Kong are to offer on-site wedding ceremonies with menu option meals complete with your choice of a wedding cake, made of apple pie or even burgers.

A McWedding would cost about HK$ 2000-3000 (€185-278) and include a set menu or the possibility for guests to order during the event, a cake and gifts. Plus, in keeping with tradition French fries will replace the customary cherries "for the newlyweds to eat together and kiss."
